ELAINE C. HERB

Elaine C. Herb, 80, a resident of Quechee, passed away unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, February 15 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born September 30, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT the daughter of Michael C. and Adela (Hruby) Allis. She received her schooling in Connecticut where she graduated from New Haven Teachers College. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for several years. After raising their family she and her husband purchased and renovated the Fairlee Motel and Drive-In which they operated until selling in 2003.

Elaine enjoyed reading, walking with her friends, working on Sudoku, and knitting mini-caps for Christmas gifts.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Raymond J. Herb of Quechee, two sons, Thomas Herb Of Quechee, VT and Raymond Herb, Jr. of Holland, VT, two daughters, Diane Landock of Gilford, CT and Patricia Zinski of Wheaton, IL, her step mother, Margaret Allis of Strafford, CT, one sister, Rosemarie Brown also of Stafford, CT, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two half brothers, Robert Patrick and Stephen Patrick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 20 at 1:00 Pm at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Hanover, NH. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. is entrusted with the arrangements.
