WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VERMONT

Effie B. Currier, 83, died June 20, 2010 at her home in White River Junction, Vermont.

Effie was born Juliet January Barrett January 20, 1927 in Hartland, Vermont, the youngest of 11 children of John and Ida (La Bonte) Barrett. She was raised by Adeline Barney and given the name Effie Elizabeth Barney. She attended school in Tunbridge and Woodstock. She was married to Raymond E. Currier December 25, 1943 in Ascutney, Vermont. They were long time residents of Newport, New Hampshire. She worked at International Shoe in Newport for ten years, before moving to Hartland and going to work at Lou's Restaurant in Hanover in 1968 leaving in 1979 to work at J.J. Newbury's and Grand Union in White River Junction. In 1986 she went to work in the cafeteria at Hartford High School and retired in 2000.

Effie enjoyed her work as a cook and was best known for her apple pie and baked beans, she also enjoyed working in her garden, and crocheting.

Effie is predeceased by her husband Raymond E. Currier Sr. and ten siblings.

Effie is survived by her son Raymond Currier Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina; four daughters, Diana Currier, Elizabeth "Betty" Trombley, Barbara Currier all of White River Junction and Judith Currier of Hartland, Vermont; thirteen grandchildren; thirty five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Guild, New Hampshire Condolences
