Barre, VT- Edward E. Sweeney, 79, died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, VT.
Ed was born June 14, 1937 in Berlin, VT a son of Wilfred Eugene and Donalda Josephine (Millette) Sweeney. He attended Little Valley School in Berlin and Saint Michael's in Montpellier. Ed served his country during the Korean War in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Alaska. He worked as a laborer on several area farms, on road construction, as a pit worker at Rock of Ages and several Rubbish routes. He was married to Brenda Lea Walbridge on October 31, 1968 she died in 1971, he was latter remarried to Maryln Colburn, December 7, 1974 she passed in 2001. Remarried Norma Manning of Berlin Convalescent Center, July 17, 2002.
You could always find Ed working on a word search puzzle at home, or at his door while he was in the VA. He loved to help set up and play Saturday night Bingo with his friends at Tilton House. In his younger years you could find him out fishing.
Ed is predeceased by four sisters, Lois Fordham, Theresa Tessier, Jane Lemieux, Alene Cassy.
He is survived by a daughter Rose Sweeney of Essex Junction; two Grandchildren Brenda Lea Sweeney of Bristol, RI, Brian William Sweeney of Montpellier, three great-grandchildren Jakob Bousquet, Brian Sweeney, and Emma Sweeney; and two sisters, Edith Fordham of Northfield, VT Gertrude Prevost and her husband Wayne of Montpellier, VT
The family would like to thank Dave and Jody with Sash, Carla with Home Health, Barre Housing, VA and all others involved with his care.
