Edward James Gillen, 91, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born December 26, 1921 in Ayer's Cliff, Quebec the son of James P. and Mary J. (Mc Eleravey) Gillen. At the age of two he and his family moved to the Upper Valley. He graduated from Hanover High School and went on to serve his country in the US Army. Edward was married to Rose Ann Morale November 21, 1948 in White River Junction and has lived in the Upper Valley since. He was an engineer with the Boston and Maine Rail Road retiring after many years with the company.
Edward is predeceased by his wife Rose Ann Gillen and his three brothers Lawrence, Gerald and Frederick Gillen.
He is survived by a close friend Karen Borgstrom and her family, several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law Irene Gillen and Annie Smith and his dear friend Kevin Gross
A graveside service will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Junction on Friday at August 16, 2013 at 11:30am.
