Mason, Edmund D of Fairlee VT, passed away on February18, 2018 at the age of 86 with his wife and "Benji" by his side. Ed was born to Fredrick and Helena Mason in Lebanon NH on February 20, 1931.

A graduate of Lebanon High School and former native of Lebanon NH, Ed retired from the Reserves (Company K 195th Infantry) in 1948 to join the Navy. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1948 - to January 1950 on the USS James C. Owens 776 with an honorable discharge. He was recalled to active duty from January 1952 to January 1954 serving on the USS Key Waden also with an honorable discharge. Ed held many positions in the Navy, including a Restricted Radio-telephone operator, but he was particularly proud of his unique ability to steer the ship to refuel other ships on the ocean, especially when the ocean was rough going.

He was a Past Commander with Legion Post 22 in Lebanon, NH from 1958 to 1959 receiving an award for signing up 104 members to the Post.

As a child Ed spent many years working to help support his family at a variety of places such as The White Owl Restaurant, Super Test Milk Company, Dion's Ski Shop, but most notably he spent time at the Lebanon Mill helping his mother and others with the machinery. Ed's forty-year career in the propane business began as a serviceman with Cantlin and Sons, which changed to Fuelane, then to Texgas Corporation where he became Branch Manager, receiving several Branch of the Year distinctions along the way. Ed maintained his role as Branch Manager when Texgas Corporation then merged with Suburban Propane. Ed was highly respected for his belief that managers should be able to "walk the talk" and therefore one could find him continuously working alongside the mechanics, service and deliverymen.

Prior to the historical Lebanon fire in 1962 Ed owned and operated the Quick and Clean laundry mat. Ed later opened and operated the Skyline Lounge at the Lebanon Airport for several years until he sold it in 1972. Throughout his life he became a certified pilot in October of 1966 under the instruction of his good friend Cooney Atherton; he was a member of the Lebanon Civil Air Patrol as Second Lieutenant and Mission Pilot, as well as a current member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Ed enjoyed the challenge and thrill for many years working on his own Thorp T-18 plane until he sold it in 2012.

Upon retiring from Suburban Propane, Ed and his good friend, Moe Ross went into business fabricating LP Bulk Plants. Retiring once again in 2000, Ed spent his recent years enjoying building furniture in his wood shop.

He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 36 years, Della Domingue; a daughter Theresa Ingle (husband Bob) of Antrim NH. Five sons; Keith Mason (sons Kyle and Justin) of Enfield, NH, Matt Mason (Roberta) of Lebanon NH, Brad Domingue (Margrette) Barre, VT; Tom Domingue (Eva) of Atlanta GA; and Nick Domingue (Laura; sons Mason and Miles) of Peyton, CO. Grandchildren Eliza, Andrew, and Audrey Mason of W Springfield, MA (children of Phillip); Michelle Rivera (Adrian) of NY; Jennifer Mason of CA (children of Kenneth). A sister, Marge Place of Lebanon NH, her children Buddy, Barbara, and Claire as well as the Domingue siblings, nieces and nephews that he was close to.

Two sons; Philip Mason of Massachusetts and Kenneth Mason of NC, his brother; Stanley, his parents Fredrick Mason of New York and Helena Mason of Lebanon NH predeceased him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 22, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon NH with committal services with military honors following in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
