Obituary

Lebanon, New Hampshire - Edith R. LaBelle, 95, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH.
Mrs. LaBelle was born March 24, 1914 the daughter of James and Mary (Cascio) Tancreti. She attended the Hartland Grade School and graduated from Windsor High School. Following graduation she received her degree from Johnson State College and went on to teach at the Jenneville School and Quechee School. Edith married  William J LaBelle on June 7, 1947 in Windsor, VT.  They moved to Lebanon in 1953 where she resided until her death. After raising her children she worked as a substitute teacher, at The Children's Center of the Upper Valley and the Scared Heart School.
Mrs. LaBelle was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon, a member of the Lebanon Garden Club, an active member of the Lebanon Senior Center and The NH Foster Grandparents Program for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, working with grade school children, baking for church bake sales, making all kinds of jams, jellies and canned goods, and serving at the Lebanon Senior Center. She also was an avid letter writer and always kept in touch with friends and family.
Mrs. LaBelle was predeceased by her husband in 1971; six brothers William Tancreti, Alfred Tancreti, Arnold Tancreti, Roger Tancreti, Orlando Tancreti, and Marcus Tancreti; and two sisters Eva Bacon and Angelina Galante.
She is survived by a son David W. LaBelle and his wife Dorothy of Meriden, NH; two daughters, Ruth LaBelle of Morningside, MD, and Nancy Traversie of Tacoma, WA , seven grandchildren including Devon LaBelle and Lana LaBelle; a former daughter-in-law Ellen Morey all of Grantham, NH,  and a sister Clara Laware
Friends may call Monday, January, 25   from 6-8 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT.  A  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at St. Anthony's at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Jct., VT
