Obituary

The graveside committal service for E. Barbara Quinn, 102, a former longtime resident of Ascutney, who passed away November 7 at the Cedar Hill Healthcare Center in Windsor, will be held Friday, May 17 at 1:00 PM in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney. Rev. Connie Moser will officiate.

Mrs. Quinn was born November 27, 1915 in Lynn, MA the daughter of William F. and Marion (Dewey) Gay. She received her schooling in Lynn, where she graduated from Lynn English High School in 1933. Following graduation she served as secretary of her alumni class for many years. She married Eugene F. Quinn in Beverly, MA on March 19, 1954 and resided in Nahant, MA for many years. Mrs. Quinn was employed by Pickering Fuel Company in Salem, MA for thirty two years, first as secretary to the Superintendent and later as manager of their branch office in Lynn. She was a member and officer of the Eastern Star Radiant Chapter #195 in Lynn and was an avid bowler serving as captain of the Women's League. Following their retirements, they moved to Ascutney in 1979, where Barbara became a member of the Ascutneyville Union Church.

Barbara and her husband owned a 1931 Chevrolet Roadster, which they totally restored and drove throughout the New England states. They also were members of the North Shore Old Car Club of Massachusetts and the Profile League of New Hampshire.

Her husband of fifty eight years passed away on May 10, 2012. She was also predeceased by three brothers, William Gay, Jr., George Gay and Richard Gay.

Survivors include a longtime very dear friend, Sandra Lemois of Ascutney and several nieces and nephews.

The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
