Obituary

FELCHVILLE, VT
Duane G. Wyman, 90, a longtime resident of Felchville, passed away at his home in Felchville on Saturday, September 2nd.
He was born December 19, 1926 in Felchville the son of Claude L. and Dorothy E. (Nutter) Wyman. He attended elementary school in Brownsville, VT until the third grade and then Felchville through the eighth grade and lived in Felchville for the rest of his life.
He attended high school in Springfield, VT, taking the five year co-operative course, (serving his apprenticeship at Jones and Lamson Machine Company), Class of 1944.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II as a Qualified Cadet.
He married Jessie E. Petty of Ludlow, VT on May 24, 1947 in Brownsville, VT.
He worked at Jones and Lamson Machine Company in Springfield, VT for approximately forty years, retiring as a Supervisor in November of 1986. He also worked for a short time at Cone Automatic in Windsor, VT; Bryant Grinder in Springfield; for the highway Departments of the State of Vermont and the Town of Reading, and as a carpenter's helper for Eric R. Bibens of Springfield during slack times at Jones and Lamson.
Mr. Wyman served as a School Board Member, Tree Warden (planting many trees in the Felchville Village), as Auditor, Lister and had participated in a few feasibility study committees. He also was in the Fire Department until 1959 and was one of the people who helped alter the old barn in back of the Town Hall into a Fire Station, now demolished.
Duane spent many hours volunteering and serving as a Trustee and Chairperson for the Felchville Cemetery Association.
Many hours were spent at Lake Echo building a cottage where the summers were spent for twenty one years.
He was past member of the Masonic Lodge in Springfield, VT for twenty five years.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Jessie P. Wyman of Felchville, two sons, Alan D. Wyman and his wife, Susan of Harwood, MD and Dennis J. Wyman and his wife, Jane of Salt lake City, UT, five granddaughters, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Wanda G. (Wyman) Maki and a brother, Morris C. Wyman.
At his request a graveside service will be held Sunday, September 10 at 11:00 AM in the Felchville Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Wyman Home on Tyson Road.
