Obituary

Windsor, Vermont – Duane C. Bandy, 91, a lifelong resident of Windsor, died on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor. He was born on September 15, 1929, in Hartland to Leslie H. and Bernice M. (Crandall) Bandy. Duane was a humble, practical man with a great wit. In his early years, he enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and bowling. He loved Windsor and the community; was a farmer and served in the military prior to working for the town, a career that spanned almost four decades starting in the highway department as a laborer and retiring as the head of public works in 1992. He found solace and peace amongst the woods of Vermont while he walked, hunted, and fished. In the spring and summer, he took great pride in his vegetable garden, canning the freshness of summer to enjoy over the long winter.

Duane is survived by two children, Janice L. McCoy and her husband, Luis, and Kevin P. Bandy and his wife, Donna; one granddaughter, Bobbi-Jo (Nutting) Rhoad and husband Andrew; great grandchildren, Kimberly, Dyan and wife Kayla, Tanner and partner Nicole, Ryan, Ethan, and Owen; great great grandchildren, Nathan and Sailor; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine (Johnson) Bandy; two brothers, Henry and Albert; one son, Duane H. "Buster" Bandy; and one granddaughter, Melissa J. (Nutting) Taggert.

A Committal Service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
