Cornish, N.H. On January 8 th , Douglas Charles Thayer, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 68. He grew up in West Lebanon NH and graduated LHS in 1970. He married the love of his life Jacalyn J. Hodgdon on May 8 th 1982. From an early age he found his passion for radio and established his bedroom studio as "Danzing Productions." Doug started his radio career at WTSL later working at WTSV / Q106, and KIXX. His booming voice and radio name "Doug Danzing" formed himself into a local icon in the Connecticut River valley. He simply loved focusing on music and entertainment. Doug was also known in the firefighting community as he served in both Hanover and Cornish departments. Doug would DJ on the side doing weddings and other fun events. He even got licensed to marry people which he figured was a more efficient way of doing the job. Doug would spend most of his time volunteering helping people. Whether it was in Boy Scouts, or announcing athletic events for the Yellow Jackets in Windsor VT. He would give his time to DJ antique car shows in order to help raise money for the local elementary schools annual Washington DC trip. And the list goes on and on. That's just the kind of guy Doug was. Always people first. When people think of Doug they think of his energy and sense of humor he brought to the table. If you were having a bad day, Doug would find a way to make you laugh and smile, whether a friend or a complete stranger. There will never be another Doug Thayer, but if you turn the volume up and play a good song with a smile on your face, you're on the right track. He will be greatly missed by his community and his friends.
He is survived by his wife Jacalyn Thayer, his son Matthew Thayer, his beloved dog "Smudge" and three crazy cats.
Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
Condolences for his family may be made at an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT assisted with arrangements.
