Perkinsville, VT- Douglas M. Napsey, 82, died Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Mt Ascutney Hospital in Windsor.
Doug was born February 3, 1942, in Pomfret, VT, a son of John and Elizabet (Burnor) Napsey. He grew up in Cornish, NH and graduated from high school in 1960. Doug joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1964. Doug worked as a machinist at Cone Blanchard. He also had a rubbish route that he would run on the weekends. In 1977 he joined the Vermont National Guard serving until he retired in 1997. He later retired from Cone Blanchard, but always had a job to keep busy. Doug married Mary Madeline Desjardins June 5, 1993, in Springfield, VT. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He also liked to spend time in the woods cutting down trees. Doug was a big sports fan; he would root for the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and he never missed a Celtics game.
Doug is preceded in death by his wife Madeline Napsey; two sons, Roger, and Jim; a brother Donald; four sisters Bridgett, Charlotte, Marie, and Noreen. He is survived by a daughter, Sue Braley; a brother Ronnie Napsey; a stepson, Mitchell Napsey; two stepdaughters Ronda Storms and Michelle Jasinski; four grandchildren Jeremy, Stephanie, Christopher, and Brandin; and ten great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Doug's life will be announced at a later date.
