Obituary

Weathersfield, VT- Douglas T. Lyman, 78, died Monday, October 2, 2023, at his home.

Doug was born May 1, 1945, in Memphis, TN, a son of Brooks and Charlotte (Closson) Lyman. He grew up in Pound Ridge, NY and graduated from the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, NY in 1962. Doug joined the Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1967, Doug started his career as a truck driver moving precious cargo and art. He traveled all around the country, setting down roots in many places. In 1981, Doug met his life partner, Susan (MacDonald) Sikes. They spent some time in Wyoming and later the Greater Boston Area before finding their forever home in Vermont.

Doug enjoyed drag racing, traveling around the country, and frequent trips to Jamaica. His greatest loves were his Harley, Susie, and his plants that he affectionately called 'his girls'.

Doug is preceded in death by his beloved Susie and a brother, Dick Lyman. He is survived by three daughters, Cherie Henry, Diane Turner, and Hannah Sikes; and a sister, Candy Lyman.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
