WEATHERSFIELD BOW, VT
Douglas P. Auclair, Sr., 79, a resident of Weathersfield Bow for over twenty three years, passed away Sunday morning, September 12, 2010 at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.
He was born April 26, 1931 in Warehouse Pointe, CT the son of Roland and Katherine (Pfeifer) Auclair.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over twenty eight years, Patricia (Knapp) Auclair in 1984 and two sons, Steven in 1988 and David in 1992, one brother, Lewis Auclair, and three sisters, Elizabeth Mroz, Anna Auclair and Dorothy Auclair.
Mr. Auclair was retired, after working all his life as a laborer for the Connecticut Water Department and as a maintenance man for nursing facility and apartment complex. He grew up in Warehouse Pointe, CT. He raised his family in Connecticut and moved to Vermont in 1983. He supported and loved his family and always brought them through the hardest of times. He was the father of seven children. He loved the outdoors and always had wonderful vegetable gardens and flower gardens. If he could not afford to buy his children some toy they may have wanted, he would build them something even better. He was very creative with carpentry of all kinds.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas P. Auclair, Jr. and his wife Laurene of Narrows, VA, Donald Auclair and his wife Sue of Weathersfield Bow, and Robert Auclair and his wife Lena of Weathersfield Bow, VT, two daughters, Marian Bein and her husband, Dana of Westfield, MA and Tammy Hayes and her husband, Will of Plymouth, VT, his grandchildren, Douglas P. Auclair, III, Chante, Jessica, Denise and her husband, Troy, Donald Jr., Roger and his wife Jessica, Nicole, Connor, Linda, Steven Jr., Peggy-Sue, Shari, Carol-Ann, several great grandchildren, one brother Roland Auclair and his wife, Alice of Massachusetts, former daughter-in-law, Marlene Andrews of Windsor, VT, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held, Thursday, September 16 at 11:00 AM at the family lot in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor, with the Rev. Donald Womser, officiating. The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.
