Dorothy A. Hall
Springfield, VT – Dorothy A. Hall, 90, died Monday April 20, 2015 at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 22, 1925 in Duxbury, VT a daughter of Dean and Victoria (Lawrence) Smith. Dorothy grew up in Duxbury and graduated from Waterbury High School and was married to Howard Hall August 29, 1942. She worked at the former Waterbury Inn and the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury before moving to Windsor in 1959. After moving to Windsor, Dorothy worked as a housekeeper in many private residences as well as a private duty nurse. She also cared for her mother-in-law in her own home for over seven years. The Hall's later moved to Clarion, PA where Dorothy owned and operated a restaurant for a time before returning to Vermont. They lived in Brownsville for several years before moving to Old Windsor Village where they lived until Howard's death in 2009. Dorothy has been a resident at Springfield Health and Rehab for the past six years.
She was also predeceased by her son, Dean Hall, her grandson, Dean Hall, Jr, her brothers Raymond and Lawrence Smith and her sisters Helen Smith, Eleanor Perry, Ruth Hough, Mary DuBuque, Kathleen Barclay and Betty Fowler.
Dorothy leaves her daughters Bette A. Champney of Alstead, NH and Patricia A. Blaine of Hawaii; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews including Carol Perry to whom Dorothy had become particularly close to over the years.
A graveside service will be held in the Brownsville Cemetery Saturday May 2nd at 2PM.
