Obituary

White River Jct., Vermont – Dorothy A. Farrar, 90, died early Wednesday morning, February 29, 2012 at her home in White River Jct., VT. She was born May 31, 1921 in Berkshire, VT the daughter of Orville and Caroline (Fecteau) Armstrong. Dorothy attended the Richford High School. She was married to Lynford "Bud" G. Farrar May 29, 1945 in Richford, VT. They moved to White River Jct. in 1955 when Bud's railroad job transferred them there. In 1963 she began her long career at the Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH where she worked as a research technician for several doctors in the Pharmacology Department. After her retirement in 1986, Dorothy and Bud enjoyed traveling and camping all over the United States and in Canada, making many friends along the way.
She was a member of the White River Methodist Church where she and her husband were very active.
Dorothy was predeceased by two brothers and their wives, Rollin (Ruth), and Robert (Charity) Armstrong. She is survived by her husband of nearly sixty-seven wonderful years, her daughter and son-in-law, Tatha and Bruce Olson of White River Jct., VT, two grandsons - Tye (Tammy) and Jave, five great grandchildren - Rebecca, Justin, Nicholas, Ashley and Dustin and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., Sunday evening, March 4, from 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, March 5, at 1PM at the United Methodist Church in White River Jct., VT with Rev. Sandy VanNorden and Rev. Lori VanNorden officiating. A springtime committal service will be held in the Christian Street Cemetery in Wilder, VT. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 106 Gates Street, White River Jct., VT 05001.
