Dorothy Hazen
Cloud
June 11, 1930 – May 11, 2018
Norwich, VT- Dorothy Hazen Cloud, 87, died Friday May 11, 2018 at the Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg, MO.
Dorothy was born to Arthur Hazen and Mildred (Hill) Raynes on June 11, 1930 in Norwich, VT. She grew up and raised her family in Norwich. She was always interested in the politics and local doings in Norwich. She sat on the Senior Action Council, was active in the Norwich Women's Club, and for years she worked at the Nearly New Sale in Tracy Hall ,which raised money for our local churches.
Dorothy loved to learn and was constantly reading and taking classes. She loved all kinds of music especially classical and music from the Big Band Era. And she adored dancing. She was an exceptional baker and cook. Her gardens were a work of art and her family reaped the rewards owing to her very green thumb. Traveling, skiing and horseback riding were three of her favorite pursuits. It was not unusual to see Dorothy and her friends riding along New Boston Road or to see her in an airport headed for points west. It was Dorothy's nature to nurture and take care of people. She loved her family and friends and when there was a need she made sure they were well taken care of.
She is predeceased by a brother, Richard Watts of Oklahoma.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Connie Cloud Timlake and Brian Cloud, both of Lebanon, NH, Thomas Cloud of Cumberland Fournace, TN and Jessica Caron Mauton of Kingsville, MO; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion Hazen Gauthier of Wilder, VT, Katherine Hazen Brodhead of Spokane, WA. and Mary Adella Raynes of Fairlee, VT.
