Enfield, NH- Dorothy A. Barnes, 83, died Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Jack Byrne Center at DHMC in Lebanon, NH.

Dorothy was born August 6, 1939, in Cromwell, CT, a daughter of Howard and Flora (Kulpa) Armstrong. She graduated from Nathan Hale-Ray High School in Moodus, CT in 1957. Dorothy went to work for the Bell Telephone Company as a receptionist. In 1962, she was married to Erva Barnes. They lived in Connecticut before making their home in Piermont, NH, then Orford, NH. Dorothy went to work for Channel Textile Co. in Bradford, VT where she worked until they closed their doors. In 1995, she moved to Enfield and went to work at Walmart in West Lebanon, NH until her retirement in 2012.

Dorothy was a devoted Catholic her entire life, and for the past many years an active parishioner of St. Helena Church in Enfield. She was actively involved at the Bugbee Senior Center in White River Junction, VT, where she played cribbage and Bingo. Dorothy loved to travel to Las Vegas and made many memorable trips with family and friends. But her greatest joy came from spending time with family.

Along with her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Picard and a brother, Howard Armstrong, Jr.

She is survived by four daughters, Deborah Gunnip of Rutland, VT, Linda Barnes Kane of Cape Coral, FL, Alice Barnes of Poulsbo, WA and Susan Bracco of Wichita, KS; a son, Paul Barnes of Alexandria, VA; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1PM at St. Helena Catholic Church in Enfield on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
