Windsor, VT – Doris J. (Davidson) (Tatro) Rafus, 93, passed away on April 10th, 2024, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT. Doris was born on January 28, 1931, in Hanover, NH to Bertie F. and Almedia D. (Mills) Davidson. Doris spent most of her life in Hartford, VT.

Shortly after graduating from Hartford High School, Doris married Howard E. Tatro, and they began a family together. Howard passed away in 1968 and Doris and her children moved to North Pomfret, VT in 1971.

Doris worked hard to ensure her children were taken care of. She worked for many years at Nalette's Nursing Home in Hartford, drove school bus and cleaned the one room schoolhouses for the town of Pomfret. She finally retired after many years from Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.

In 1989, Doris married Donald Rafus, Jr. and they moved back to Hartford, VT. Upon his passing in 2017, Doris moved to Windsor, VT to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Fred Morey.

Doris loved watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She loved reading and creating knit and crocheted gifts for her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Morey and husband Frederick of Windsor, VT and Jane Cervenka and husband Jack of Dunnellon, FL; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and a nephew, other relatives, and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bertie F. Davidson, mother, Almedia D. Milliken, four children, Earl H. Tatro, Bertie F. Tatro, Carol J. Tatro, and Martha C. Tatro, and one grandchild, Carl J. Magnus.

A graveside service will be held in the Hartford Cemetery at 11am on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. Knight Funeral Home of Windsor, VT has been entrusted with services. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook found www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
