Doris Helen Jenks, 88, of Lyme, NH, died peacefully in her home in the presence of family in the early morning hours of Friday, January 28, 2022. A lifelong resident of Lyme, she was born on July 30, 1933, to Roy and Olive (Blanchard) Balch and attended school at Lyme Center Academy. On August 4, 1951, she married Thomas E. Jenks and together they nurtured six children.

She worked as a housekeeper in Hanover for many years. She was a great lover of the outdoors, going with her family on many hiking, fishing, and camping trips throughout their childhood. Doris had an expansive garden and spent a lot of time canning and preparing delicious meals with the produce she raised. She, along with her husband and children, also raised animals for food. She loved spending time at home amongst her family and it brought her great comfort to be at home for her final years.

She is survived by three sons, Gregory and Douglas Jenks of Lyme, NH and Ronald Jenks of Hanover, NH; three siblings, Raymond Balch and Sharon Greatorex of Lyme Center, NH, and Sarah Estes of Barre, VT; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three children, Donald, Steve, and Debbie Jenks; a grandson, Ethan Jenks; and two siblings, Harvey Balch and Dora Dix.

The Jenks family would like to say a heartfelt "Thank you" to Bayada Hospice, especially to Sarah and Edylin. The family would also like to thank Delilah Gourley, Kellie Barber, Ellie Messer, Polly Gray, and Norine Gray, whose compassionate care allowed for Doris to happily remain in her home.

Services to be held at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT on Sunday, February 13 ^th at 2PM.
