ASCUTNEY, VT
Dora Y. Monroe, 89, a resident of Ascutney, passed away Friday morning, July 5, at her home in Ascutney.
She was born October 11, 1923 in Burlington, VT the daughter of Frank J. and Anna Ruth (Shequin) Yandow. She received her schooling in Hartford and Windsor, VT. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1941. She married Lawrence A. Poulin in Windsor on February 9, 1949. He passed away in March of 1960. Dora was employed by Green Mountain Power Corporation as a Division Manager for many years until her retirement in 1985. She married Calvin E. Monroe in Wilder, VT on December 2, 2000.
She was a former member of the Ascutney Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star in Windsor. She enjoyed shopping, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and was fond of her cat "Claire". She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by one son. L. Stephen Poulin, one stepson, Donald Monroe and one sister, Anna Yando.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin E. Monroe of Ascutney, two daughters, Stephanie Baird of Charlestown, NH and Patricia Mock of Shirley. MA, four stepdaughters, Linda Rumrill of Springfield, VT, Calveda Heslinga of Dunnellon, FL, Kathleen Rivers of Vergennes, VT and Theresa Derenuik of Sanoma, CA, one stepson, Paul E. Dionne of Enfield, NH, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At her request a graveside service will be held Friday, July 12 at 11:00 AM at the Hartford Cemetery in White River Jct., VT. The Rev. Dave Jones, Pastor of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Windsor will officiate.
