Donna L. Elder
West Lebanon, NH – Donna L. Elder, 62, died Sunday April 10, 2016 at home with her family in West Lebanon.
She was born May 16, 1953 in Hanover, NH a daughter of Robert and Janet (Day) Tobin. Donna grew up in Lebanon and attended Lebanon Schools. After her father died when she was nine, Donna helped to care for her brothers and sister. Over the course of her life she continued her practice as a caretaker, taking care of many friends and family. She left school before graduating to care for her son and later earned her GED. Donna worked for a time at the Red Cross Pharmacy on Main Street in West Lebanon. She was married to Peter Elder February 1, 1980 and they have made their home in West Lebanon since. Donna received training and earned her license to practice as a Licensed Massage Therapist as another way to care for others.
Donna loved nature, especially camping, spending time at the ocean and watching the birds. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly going to the family's time share in New Orleans. True to her giving nature, Donna spent many hours serving her community including volunteering at the Upper Valley Haven.
She was very thankful for the care she received from many friends and family including her sister-in-law Nancy Ashey, that allowed her to be at home for most of the ten months she battled cancer. Donna loved life and was very spiritual, her faith was a great help in getting through her journey.
