Mr. Perkins was born January 26, 1934 in Lebanon, NH. He died at home Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He was adopted by Guy Daniel and Maude Agnes (Willard) Perkins. He graduated from Lebanon High School, June 1952.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps, served three years, fifteen of which were in Korea. He was at the
Chosin Reservoir. He graduated from the N.H. Technical Institute in Portsmouth, NH in June 1958. He married Pauline Matson, February 14, 1959.
He worked as an auto mechanic for many Upper Valley General Motors automobile dealerships. In 1969 he went back to school and earned his Auto Mechanic Instructor License. He taught in the Man Power Program at the New Hampshire State Prison, Lebanon High School, Lebanon, NH and Newport Supervisory 43, Newport, NH. Upon retirement he enjoyed restoring antique cars and motorcycles.
He enjoyed teaching his children and others to water ski, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, restoring antique cars and motorcycles, making belts with his leather craft tools, woodworking, touring the USA either on motorcycles or in the car and due to his illness his goal of going to all 50 states was cut short, and spending time with his family. Past or present, he was a member of the Twin State Marine Corps League, American Antique Motorcycle Club, Garand Collectors Assoc., Life Member of the American Motorcycle Assoc., Life Member of the National Rifle Assoc., American Legion Post 39, and Greater Hartford United Church of Christ, Hartford, VT.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Kenneth Perkins, and David Perkins, sisters: Thelma Perkins, Avis Castine, Olive Lovering, and Dorothy Cowan and half brother John Lovering.
He is survived by his wife, of the home, Pauline of nearly 60 years, son Donald Scott, Hookerton, NC. Daughter Merilee Angela Perkins, White River Jct., VT, granddaughters: Aimee Perkins, Pikesville, Tennessee and Troi Perkins and husband Brian Chase, Enfield, NH. Half sisters, Grace Johnson, Unity, NH, Suzanne Knowlton and husband Dale, Dade City, Florida, Gloria Thurber and husband Scott, Tampa, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
At Mr. Perkins request there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. Burial will be at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont in the Springtime.
