IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Washburn
Miller
April 8, 1938 – March 29, 2023
West Bath, ME – Donald Washburn Miller, 84, of West Bath, ME died on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Donald was born on April 8, 1938, in Portland, ME to David Sewall Miller, DDS and Hazel (Washburn) Miller. He loved his home state of Maine, and enjoyed wintering in West Windsor, VT near Mt. Ascutney. Donald will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends for his kind, generous, unflappable spirit, and his quick, dry sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with friends and family, but it was as much for the social aspect and time spent outdoors as it was actually harvesting game in his pursuits. He always welcomed friends and family alike to their home on the water in West Bath Maine, sharing his love of the ocean while hosting boat rides and fishing expeditions. In the evenings, regardless of how the day went, he was the cribbage king, holding court with Manhattans and Better Cheddars.
He was generous to the broader community through Rotary Club, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf in Falmouth, ME, and following retirement after 37 years in Banking, he joined H&R Block to help out during tax season.
Donald is survived by his wife Brenda E. Miller of West Bath, ME; four children Jeffrey Miller and wife Judy Camuso of Falmouth, ME, Mark Miller of Falmouth, ME, Ashley Morse of West Windsor, and Jason Gravelle of West Windsor; one brother D. Sewall Miller, MD and wife Sharon of Scottsville, NY; ten grandchildren, Megan and fiancé Rob, Jason, Anna Jane, Madeleine, Abigail, Whit, Caleb, Gail, Sadie, and Chase; additional close family members Cindy Stacey of West Windsor and her children Elicia Rowan and husband Connor of Windsor and Jackie Record and husband Dave of Bennington, and Cheryl Boone and husband Geoff of Newark, VT; one great granddaughter Molly; his dog Chili; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Ann Bowman, and one daughter-in-law Ashley Miller-Gravelle.
Services will be held in West Windsor at the Ascutney Outdoors Center on Saturday, April 29th from 4-7pm and at their home in West Bath, Maine on Saturday May 20th 1-4 pm. Memorial donations are appreciated to: Dartmouth Cancer Center, https://cancer.dartmouth.edu/donate
