Obituary

Wilder, VT - Donald O. LaFlam, 96, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder.

He was born July 26, 1916 in Montgomery, VT the son of Hector J. and Lottie (Rushford) LaFlam.

Don grew up in Montgomery and attended school in Richford, VT. He married Muriel Conant in 1934 and they lived in Eden, VT for several years. While in Eden he worked in the Eden
Asbestos mines until they moved to Wilder in 1944, when Don accepted a job with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor. He retired in 1976 after 32 years of service with the company.

Don was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his sons, hunting rabbits and deer. He enjoyed training rabbit dogs and collecting and tinkering on hit & miss engines. He was a long time member of the Vermont Gas & Steam Engine Association.

He was predeceased by his wife, Muriel, in 1988. and is survived by two sons, Richard LaFlam of White River Junction, VT and Robert LaFlam of Daytona Beach, FL; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a half sister Dolly Wilcox of Connecticut.

A visitation will be held from 9-11AM Tuesday, July 31st at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. A graveside service will follow at 3PM in the Jeffersonville Cemetery in Jeffersonville, VT.
