Donald A. Isenor, 92, died Friday June 30, 2023, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.
He was born February 11, 1931, in Taunton, MA, a son of Arthur and Edna (Caswell) Isenor. Donald grew up in Raynham, MA before serving in the US Army. While serving at Fort McClellan in Alabama, he met and fell in love with Imogene Pence. They were married on January 29, 1954, and settled in Massachusetts where Donald began his career as a telegraph lineman for Western Union. The family later moved to Quechee, VT and then to Hartland, VT and he continued his work as lineman for the Boston & Maine Railroad. After retiring from the railroad, Donald and Imogene purchased and ran the Northern Comfort Restaurant and Lounge in Bridgewater Corners. He later worked as a driver for Miller Ready Mix and then as a golf course ranger, first at Quechee Lakes and then at the Hanover Country Club before retiring for good.
Donald loved animals and over the years had several horses, donkeys, monkeys, cats and dogs. He also enjoyed playing the bass guitar, especially playing country music with the Quechee Valley Boys; as well as spending time outdoors, fishing, coon hunting, riding horses and snowmobiling with the Hartland Hill Hoppers.
He was predeceased by his parents, a son, Kenneth Isenor; a Son in law Randy Waters; sister Nancy Hudson and brother Alan Isenor.
He leaves his wife, Imogene, of nearly seventy years, of Sharon, a son, Brian J Isenor and his wife Dorcy, of Hartland, their children and grandchildren; daughter Donna G. Waters and her son of Bridgewater Corners; daughter Sheila Warren and husband Franklin, of Hartland, their children and grandchildren; daughter in law Bonnie Isenor of Sharon and her children and grandchildren; and a brother Thomas Isenor, Sr of Quechee, VT., and several nieces and nephews.
