IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolor "Mike"
Lambert, Jr.
January 29, 1946 – January 29, 2024
White River Jct., VT – On January 29, 2024, on his birthday, Dolor "Mike" Lambert Jr., 78, passed away at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH after a long fight with cancer.
He was born January 29, 1946 in Lebanon, NH the son of Dolor Lambert and Martha (Thurber) Lambert. He grew up in Lebanon, NH and attended Sacred Heart School and later graduated from Lebanon High School.
On April 14, 1984 Mike married the love of his life, Carol Roberts. They made their home in Wilder. Mike worked as a machinist at New Jersey Machine Company for over twenty-eight years. However, that wasn't his only job. Anyone that knew Mike would tell you he was a "jack of all trades" and he shared his skills and knowledge, often for little or no pay, with countless friends and family. He was an excellent painter both interior and exterior, but he could also handle most plumbing, electrical and carpentry projects that came along. Mike didn't use these talents to create for himself a second career, but he certainly could have. Instead, he filled much of his spare time helping those around him.
Hard work and keeping busy might have been one of his hobbies but he had many more including, woodworking, deer hunting, cheering on the Boston Celtics and serving as a Boy Scout leader, helping two young men become Eagle Scouts. Yet his absolute favorite activity was bowling. He was an accomplished and competitive bowler for over forty years and bowled all over the twin state region. He bowled his first perfect "300" game at the age of sixty followed by four more. Mike competed in State and National tournaments that took him to Las Vegas, Reno, El Paso, and Corpus Christi just to name a few. Over the years he earned countless trophies and awards, but for him, his greatest achievement was coaching the Hartford High School Bowling Team. During that time, he coached his grandson Dylan, who won the VPA Bowling State Championship in 2018. He was the bowling teams coach for eight years. Nothing was more pleasing to Mike than watching the steady improvement of his players much of which was due to his knowledgeable and supportive coaching style.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Mary L. Wilmot, and Rose Lindsey, and a brother, Joseph Lambert.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of thirty-nine years, a daughter, Christine Crowley and her husband, Dennis of White River Jct., VT, three sons, Michael Lambert of Florida, Timothy Ring and his partner, Jolin of Hanover, NH, Thomas Ring and his wife Jo-Anne of Hyde Park, VT, five grandchildren, Tamara, Dylan, Taylor, Benjamin and Carson, two great grandchildren, Connor and Jaxson, a sister, Virginia Jackson of North Carolina as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT on Saturday, February 10th from 11 am – 1pm, with a funeral service following immediately at 1pm. Burial will be held in the Hyde Park Plains Cemetery in Hyde Park, VT later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Byrne Center for palliative and Hospice Care, 154 Hitchcock Loop Road, Lebanon, NH 03766 or to the Visiting Nurse Association of NH/VT, 88 Prospect Street, White River Jct., VT 05001
