WEATHERSFIELD BOW, VT - Dianne S. Surrell, 63, a resident of Weathersfield Bow and a proud survivor of breast cancer, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, February 14 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Emergency Department in Windsor.
She was born June 28, 1948 in Lebanon, NH the daughter of Emile and Simonne (Bathalon) Demers.
She moved to Windsor as a young girl. She received her schooling in Windsor and attended Windsor High School. She married Raymond E. Surrell in Windsor in January of 1965 and they were later divorced after several years. After raising her family as a loving and devoted mother, Dianne was employed at the Ascutney Mountain Resort in Brownsville, the former Holson Photo Shop in Claremont, and at Whitney and Blake in Bellows Falls. She most recently was employed at Dartmouth College as a photo copy technician until her retirement in 2009.
Mrs. Surrell enjoyed knitting, sewing, and making Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls. She was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed cooking. She was fond of spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Normand Demers.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Surrell II and his wife Jeannie Levesque-Surrell of Windsor, VT, Stacey Surrell and his wife, Stacy Howard-Surrell of Swanzey, MA, and Eric Surrell of Weathersfield Bow, two daughters, Donna M. Greer and her husband, Roger of Portsmouth, RI, and Jeannie Surrell of Weathersfield Bow, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, George Demers of East Thetford, VT and Charles Demers of Harvest, AL, one sister, Cecile Corliss of Weathersfield Bow, one aunt, Rolande Bathalon of Troy, VT, her former husband, Raymond E. Surrell of Walpole, NH, her former mother-in-law, Marjorie Surrell of Newport, NH, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Sunday afternoon, February 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
At her request there will be no formal funeral service. Committal services will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.
