WINDSOR, VT
Delmer W. French, 64, a resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Jct.
He was born October 23, 1947 in Randolph, VT the son of Earl and Iverna (Spencer) French. He received his schooling in Springfield, Vermont and graduated from Springfield High School in 1965. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1970 in returned to Weathersfield. He married June Beattie in Windsor on October 10, 1970. Delmer was employed in manufacturing most of his life and for the past twenty three years had been employed at Sturm Ruger in Newport, NH as a hand polisher for trigger guards for handguns.
Mr. French was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a self taught technician and enjoyed working on computers, short wave radios and other electronics. He was fond of nature and wild flowers and enjoyed traveling throughout New England.
He was predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Ethel, Harriet and Anne.
Survivors include his wife June A. French of Windsor, one son, Nathan A. French of Windsor, two daughters, Erica L. French of Springfield, MA and Lisa J. Lawrence and her husband, Travis of Westminster, VT, three grandchildren, Cooper Lawrence and Cinnamon Lawrence of Westminster and Alexander M. French of Groton, VT, one brother, David French and his wife, Lorraine of North Springfield, VT, one sister, Eleanor French of North Springfield, VT, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Saturday afternoon, January 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. At Delmer's request there will be no formal funeral service.
