West Windsor, VT - Debra "Debbie" D. Dischinger died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on September 21, 1958, in Claremont, NH to Leigh and Eunice (Soule) Damren, Debbie grew up in Claremont and graduated from Stevens High School. She later earned her associate’s degree from Plymouth State College (University).
Debbie's first marriage to Gerald Bellavance blessed them with two children, Jessica and Jared.
Debbie later married James "Jim" Dischinger on July 28, 2007, in a beautiful wedding overlooking Mt. Ascutney, complete with a hot air balloon. They made their home "up on the hill" in West Windsor, VT, where they resided until the time of her death. Debbie and Jim shared a love of the outdoors, live music, travelling, spending time with friends, champagne, and good seafood. They could sit for hours on their deck, listening to music and talking into the evening.
An avid reader, Debbie was never without a book. She enjoyed baking, trips to King Arthur Baking Company, and was known for her famous Rum Log cookies at Christmastime. A lover of all animals (except turtles), she looked forward to her afternoon walk in the woods with her beloved dog, Inga. Above all, Debbie cherished spending time with her family, especially Jim and her children, be it her annual Christmas shopping trip to Portsmouth with Jessica, or morning cribbage with Jared.
Debbie worked for the Human Resources Department of DHMC for the past 27 years and considered her co-workers to be a second family. She was known for her quick wit and dependability- completing tasks in record time, and could always be counted on to make others laugh.
Debbie was predeceased by her sister, Pam Levanovich, and her parents, Leigh and Eunice Damren. We know that any "peace" Leigh and Eunice were enjoying is bound to be disrupted now that Debbie and Pam are together again.
Debbie is survived by her husband, James Dischinger, her children, Jessica Bellavance and partner, Niles Draper, of Portsmouth, NH, and Jared Bellavance and fiancée, Leona Dubich, of Simpsonville, SC; two brothers, Allen Damren and wife, Jodi Damren, of Claremont, NH, and Leo Damren and wife, Elaine Damren, of Needham, MA; her sister, Lois Buchan, and husband, Andrew Buchan, of Charlestown, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A celebration of Debbie's life will be held at the Base Lodge of Ascutney Outdoors in West Windsor, VT on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00pm.
Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guest book at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
