Hartland, VT- David P. Wimett Sr., 68, passed away on Tuesday April 24 at his home in Hartland.
He was born in Glens Falls, NY on October 13, 1943, the son of Theron and Elizabeth (Nadeau) Wimett. Soon after his birth, David's biological father passed away, and he was raised by his step father Charles Larabee. He graduated from Hartford High School. While in school he worked for his father making ice, mail and milk deliveries. David married Marian Adams on July 17, 1965 at St Anthony's Church in White River Jct., VT.
After school, he worked for Potter's Mobile, Twin State Electric, and Ward Baking Company, all in White River Jct. Later he briefly moved to Topeka, KS to work for Goodyear Tire. After returning to the Upper Valley he began working for Cattabriga and Evans Fuels, both in Enfield, NH. He then started work at Johnson and Dix in Lebanon, NH, where he would stay for 30 years until his retirement.
David was a member of Twin State Trail Busters, The Lebanon Motorcycle Club, Montague Golf Club in Randolph, VT, and the Elks Lodge #2099 in Lebanon, NH.
David loved the outdoors, whether it was riding his Harley, camping or golfing. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth, his biological father Theron, his father, Charles Larabee, three brothers, William and Peter Wimett, and Lawrence Larabee, and a sister, Sally Leavitt.
David is survived by his wife Marian of Hartland, VT, two sons, David Wimett Jr and his wife Tonia of Masaryktown,FL, and Donald Wimett and his wife Sarah of Hartland, VT; two daughters, Vicki Braley and her husband Mike Martin of South Royalton, VT and Charlene Gaudette and her husband Raymond of Hartford, VT, Ten grandchildren, Spencer, Cassandra, Amanda, Alysia, Cameron, Abbagail, Hunter, Henry, Logan, and Gunnar; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Alex, and Anna; a brother, Robert Wimett and his wife Glenna of Meriden, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Sunday April 29 from 5-7 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A graveside service will be held Monday April 30 at 10AM in the Hartford Cemetery.
