Hartford, VT – David L. Raymond, 83, died Friday July 31, 2026, at home surrounded by his family following a lengthy battle with COPD.

He was born February 5, 1943, in Enosburg, VT a son of James and Eulah (Arel) Raymond. After graduating from Franklin High School he enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1960 until 1963. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Vermont and worked on the construction of the interstates. While working in White River Jct., he met Nancy Larabee and they were married April 23, 1966, and have made their home in White River Jct. since. David worked as a meat cutter for Swift and Co. for 15 years. After they closed the plant in White River Jct. he went to work for the Town of Hartford Highway Department for many years. David was a jack of all trades and went on to share his skills with several businesses and anyone who needed a hand.

In his free time, he enjoyed tinkering on lawnmowers and small engines as well as skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed sugaring all of his life, starting on his family’s farm in Franklin and more recently with his children in their sugarbush in West Hartford. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family, especially time with his grandchildren and made time to attend as many of their sporting events and other activities as possible.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Hartford; his beloved dog Minnie; his children Debra Brooks (Chris) of North Hartland and Kevin Raymond (Amy) of West Hartford; grandchildren, Nicholas, Hunter (fiancé Breanna) and Colby (Katy) Brooks and Summer (Patrick) and Logan (fiancé Avery) Raymond; great grandchildren Emmett, Morgana and Rogue with another expected in November; brothers Ralph Raymond of Sheldon, VT, Roy Raymond of Waterbury, VT, James Raymond of Franklin, VT and Richard Raymond of Williamstown, VT as well as several nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by a brother Robert Raymond, and sisters, Betty Fitzgerald and Diane Richardson.

A private committal service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Christian Street Cemetery.
