Obituary

David Marzbanian, 90, passed away on February 15, 2015 from complications due to several medical issues. Recently in Hospice care, David died peacefully in his sleep.
He was born on December 30, 1924 to Kachig and Hripsima Marzbanian in the city of Lowell, Massachusetts where he grew up with his younger sister Rosalie. David was an accomplished pianist. He was trained in the classical tradition but jazz became his passion. He entered the Army like so many of his generation right after high school spending time in both the European and Pacific theaters. He returned home and was honorably discharged on February 24, 1946. Upon his return, David continued his education at the university of Missouri, graduating with his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
David married Patricia Giragosian in the fall of 1951. Soon after they moved to Windsor, Vermont where he was employed at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as a chemical engineer. He stayed with the company for 35 years before retiring.
David loved reading and instilled that love in all of his children. He was and avid sports fan and followed the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins as well as his alma mater Missouri college sports teams. He also enjoyed golfing at the Windsor Country Club and skiing at Mt. Ascutney with his family and friends.
Martha's Vineyard was a very special place for David. Introduced to the Vineyard by his sister Rosalie in the early 1970's, he like so many fell in love with the island. The family would visit each and every year thereafter. He especially loved to walk the beaches, coming for sea glass, or simply relaxing with a book. He was delighted when two of his children settled down and established their own homes there in the early 1980's. In 2009, after the death of his wife, he came to live on the Island with his son Peter.
David was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Patricia. He is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Jay Cannistraro, his son Robert and his wife Diana, his daughter Ellen, his son Peter and his wife Elizabeth, grandchildren Anthony, Bobby, Alisha, Kirstin and Trevor, great grandchildren Sophie and Bennett, and his sister Rosalie.
Service arrangements were handled in Massachusetts. Memorial contributions can be made to your favorite library.
