Windsor, VT – David Lee Buchanan, 68, passed away Saturday evening, November 17, 2018, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT.  He was born May 22, 1950 in Windsor, VT the son of William and Margaret (Ayer) Buchanan, Sr.

David attended Windsor High School before joining the US Army.  He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and then returned to Windsor to be close to family. When he first came back to Windsor, he worked as an EMT for Windsor Ambulance.  David also held jobs at Cone Blanchard, Joy Manufacturing and Asplund Tree Services.  In the early 80's David worked with his father managing Bucky's Food and Gas in Windsor. The store sponsored a softball team "Bucky's" which David was very proud of.  The team played in the National Softball Tournament in Pennsylvania.

Though he had various jobs, David found most fulfillment in his work as a painter.  He worked many years for Monmaney Master Painters in Lebanon, NH.    He was extremely proud of his work, and loved to show others jobs that he had done. David was a loyal father, brother, uncle and friend to all.  He was always there with a helping hand whenever anyone asked.

David was a very accomplished pool player, an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing his favorite Merle Haggard songs.    He loved family picnics, playing horseshoes and trips to the Dartmouth Grant each year with his brother Doug and other close family members and friends.

He was a former member of the American Legion Post #25 in Windsor, VT.

He is survived by his daughter, Billie Jo Buchanan of Windsor, VT, two brothers, Douglas Buchanan of Windsor, VT, William  Buchanan Jr. of Claremont, NH, two sisters, Donna Kendall and Laura Munstermann both of Windsor, VT, as well as many loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
