Wilder, Vermont – David Lee Bedell, 78, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, August 22, at his sister's home in Lebanon, NH.  He was born October 14, 1941 in Hanover, NH the son of Bernard and Beatrice (Temple) Bedell.

David grew up in Hartland and Windsor, VT.  At the young age of fourteen he started working with his father at the Old Homestead Dairy in Hartland, VT.  He worked there for the next nine years until 1965 when he took a position at Vermont Log Homes in Hartland, VT.  David became part of that Log Home Business as he worked there for the next forty-two years.  He started off peeling logs by hand and by the time he reached retirement age in 2006, he had pretty much done a little of everything. Most of his time was spent operating the planer and the spline cutting machines.

He was a steady and dedicated worker.  During this time, he lived with his parents in Hartland.  Following their passing he lived with his brother and sister-in-law.  Following his retirement, they moved to Wilder. VT where he has resided ever since, with the exception of the past few weeks when he was being cared for by his sister, Betty, in Lebanon, NH. He will be remembered for his hard work, simple ways, His Cowboy Hat and his Pipe, the two items that was always with him.

David was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, infant Richard Bedell, and brothers, Eugene Bedell, Robert Bedell and a sister, Phyllis Remick.

He is survived by brothers, Gordon Bedell and his wife, Connie, of Rochester, VT, Donald Bedell and his wife Cyrena, of Wilder, VT, two sisters, Shirley Hart of Southfield, MA, Betty Eubanks and her companion, Bud Henry of Lebanon, NH, twelve nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday afternoon, August 26, from 1-2PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT.  A graveside service will be held immediately following at 2:30PM in the Hartland Cemetery in Hartland, Vermont.
