Darrell W. Conley, Jr., 69, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction after a short illness.

Darrell was born January 8, 1947 in Windsor, VT the son of Darrell and Marion (Barrows) Conley. He grew up in Windsor and attended school there. In 1964 he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to Windsor in 1968 he went to work for Windsor Minerals in Brownsville, VT. He later went to work for Thermal Dynamics in Lebanon, NH where he worked until 1987 when he went to work for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. During his thirty years with the VA he was the Fire and Safety Officer. Also during this time he continued to serve his country as a member of the Vermont National Guard until 1992.

Darrell was a member of the American Legion Post# 26 and Veterans of Foreign Post# 2571 both in White River Junction, and the Windsor Elks BPOE# 1665. He enjoyed camping with his family, playing horse shoes and shooting pool. He loved dancing and listing to Elvis Presley, old time rock and roll, and classic country.

Darrell is predeceased by a brother Maitland Marshall.

He is survived by his wife Patricia A. Conley of White River Junction, two daughters Peggy Leva and husband Brian of Lebanon, NH, Bonnie Soule and husband Steve of New Boston, NH; step daughter Tina Smith and husband Louie of White River Junction; five grandchildren, Angela Smith, Skylar Smith, Joseph Leva, Riley Leva, and Isabella Soule; and two sisters Geraldine Slayton and husband Tom of Plainfield, NH, Bonnie Ladue and husband Philly of Windsor , and a special family friend Steven Zue.

A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT at 1PM. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
