Lebanon, NH - Darrell Bowen passed away at his home surrounded by his family on August 11th 2017 after a long hard battle with cancer at the age of 51. He joins his beloved wife Christie who passed away August 26, 2011 and will be buried next to her in the Hartford Cemetery.
Darrell Bowen was born on August 21st 1965 in Rutland, VT. He was one of 6 children of Helen Kelley-Pychevicz and Melvin Bowen. He attended school at Fair Haven High. After high school, he obtained his CDL and began driving truck for places such as Mowers News and Jewel Transportation. He met his soul mate Christie and they got married on July 4th 1990. Together they raised 3 beautiful children, Heather, Thomas and Colby who they loved more than anything.
Darrell proudly started his own trucking company, KJT in which he enjoyed immensely and named after his grandson, Keaton James Thurber.
Darrell was a simple man, loving and caring with a heart bigger than even he was willing to admit to. He enjoyed riding his Harley on summer days, cooking at family holiday gatherings, Pepsi, Country music, hunting camp and Westerns. He loved spending time with his family and walking in The Prouty every year. Darrell will be remembered for his unmatched determination.
His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Danielle Halter of Newport News Virginia, Heather Thurber and husband Burton of Perkinsville, VT, Thomas Bowen of Windsor, VT and Colby Bowen of Lebanon, NH, grandchildren, brother's and sisters, Brenda Alley, Rebecca Southworth, Barbara Burlett, Bruce Bowen and Randy Bowen, nieces and nephews and his partner of 5 years, Lori Dunn and her children Nikki and Chris Dunn who also survives him.
Calling hours will be held Friday August 18th from 4-6 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT . A Memorial Service will follow at 6PM at the Funeral Home with a time to express thoughts and memories of Darrell, so please come prepared to share a favorite story. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Hartford Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions can be made to The Prouty which we will continue to do every year in memory of him and his late wife.
