Union City Tennessee

Dana, 62, a longtime Windsor resident, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, March 15, 2012, at his home in Union City, TN.

He was born September 6, 1949 in Windsor, VT. He attended and graduated from Windsor High School in 1967.

He was employed by Goodyear in Windsor, VT until the plant closed in 1987. A hard and dedicated worker, he then transferred to the Goodyear Companies plant located in Union City, TN, where he retired from in September of 2011.

Dana was a member of the VT National Guard earlier in his life. He was also an active supporter of the Windsor Elks Lodge and American Legion as well as the Eagles Club in Union City.

He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching NASCAR races on TV, as well as occasionally attending NASCAR races and events. He always gave a helping hand to his friends and those in need. He had a special place in his heart for cats too. He would rescue and nurture strays found near his home, nurturing them, giving them a home, helping them back to health, and by taking care of their kittens before finding them homes.

He is survived by his parents, Jerold and Blanche Spencer of Windsor, VT. He is also survived by his 2 brothers; Gary Spencer of Williamstown, MA and Mark Spencer of White River Junction, VT and 1 sister; Jill Spencer-White and her husband Jeffrey White of Windsor, VT; 2 nephews, Christopher Spencer and Dylan Spencer and 3 nieces; Ashley Spencer, Riley White, and Taylor Nalette.

There will be a graveside service at the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor, VT at a later date. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
