IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dale J.
West
February 16, 1944 – August 15, 2023
Windsor, VT – Dale J. West, 79, of Windsor died on August 15, 2023, in Claremont, NH. She was born on February 16, 1944, in Wilder, VT to James A. and Lula (Cochran) West and attended school in North Hartland and Hartford, graduating from Hartford High School in 1962. She pursued her education at Rutland Business College and started her career in Hudson, MA as a secretary.
After a few years away, she unfortunately suffered from a stroke at a young age and returned to Vermont. During her difficult rehabilitation she worked incredibly hard, kept a positive attitude, and was able to regain most of the physical abilities that she had lost. Her kindness, generous spirit, delightful sense of humor, and openness made her the kind of person who welcomed others with open arms and a heartfelt smile. She loved her community in Windsor, volunteering with the Head start Program, Stoughton House, in the Mt. Ascutney Hospital giftshop, and her parish, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She never missed one of her relatives birthdays, sending a card sometimes weeks ahead and then a phone call to share her rendition of the Happy Birthday song.
She is survived by her brother James M. West of White River Junction, VT; numerous dearly cherished nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Sylvia Marsters and Nancy LaFleur.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 4 until 6 at Knight Funeral Home, Windsor, VT. A Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Windsor, interment will follow at the Hartland Village Cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Church.
