Dale Stewart, 77, formerly of Concord, NH died Thursday, January 05, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon surrounded by his family.
Dale was born June 24, 1934 in Colebrook, NH the son of Frederick and Lucy (Parkhurst) Stewart. He graduated from Colebrook Academy class of 1953 and served in the Army for two years. He was married to Joan Bean September 11, 1954 at the Methodist Church in Colebrook. This is where they lived and he worked for a time in the lumber industry and as a type setter for the News and Sentinel. After learning this trade they moved to Concord, NH in 1964 where he worked for the Concord Monitor until his retirement in the 1990's. During his retirement he worked for Hannaford's for a time to keep busy and in 2007 they moved to Lebanon.
Dale is a past member of the Odd Fellows, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #613, VFW Men's Auxiliary Post #1631 all in Concord, NH. Dale enjoyed the outdoors, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed camping, was a passionate Red Sox fan, and loved his cat Bambi. Dale enjoyed spending time with his family best, he would always look forward to them all getting together.
He is predeceased his wife Joan Stewart
He is survived by four sons; Peter Stewart and companion Tina LaCourse of Franklin, NH, James and Shirley Stewart of Loudon, NH Jeffrey and Rhonda Stewart of White River Junction, VT and Ronald and Karen Stewart of Davenport, FL six grandchildren; Melissa, Jason, Tabitha, Larry, Heather, and Amanda; great-grandchildren; a brother Frederick and Jackie Stewart and their daughter Kelley Stoller all of Milford, NH.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 8, 2011 from 1-3PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction immediately followed by a funeral service at 3PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in the Colebrook Cemetery in Colebrook, NH.
