ASCUTNEY, VT
Dale "Scott" McCarthy, 54, passed away suddenly Sunday morning, January 31 at his home in Ascutney.
He was born May 31, 1955 in Bellows Falls, Vermont the son of Delmer and Evlynn (Just) Kelley. He received his schooling in Weathersfield and Windsor. He graduated from Windsor High School in 1973.He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during peacetime as a security specialist. Following his honorable discharge in 1978, he returned to Windsor and was employed at the former C & S Wholesalers in Claremont, New Hampshire for ten years. He was currently doing caretaking work in the Upper Valley, while taking care of his mother. Scott was an avid hunter and loved his cat "Butch".
He was a volunteer member of the Weathersfield Fire Department and Rescue Squad for several years.
He was predeceased by his father and two brothers, Delmer McCarthy and Kevin McCarthy.
Survivors include his mother, Evlynn McCarthy Kelley of Ascutney, one sister, Donna O'Neill of Windsor, one brother, Leon McCarthy of Charlestown, NH, one niece, Leanne McCarthy of Charlestown, and two nephews, Jarrod McCarthy of Charlestown and Derek Miles of Ludlow, Vermont.
At his request there will be no formal funeral services. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney at a later date.
