Obituary

Wilder, VT – Constance "Connie" Wyatt, age 85, was born on October 30, 1936 in Barre, VT to Evelyn C. Hall and Carl H. Braley, Sr. and passed away on July 6, 2022 at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon after months of declining health.

She married Edward L. Wyatt on November 4, 1955. In her earlier years she worked as a nurse at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in the Mental Health and Cancer Center before going into private duty nursing in several homes around the area. She had a special way with her patients, and they bonded to the end. She recently stated "she'd give anything to still be able to care for her patients again" – she loved them all and they became her family.

In her spare time, she could be seen at many area race tracks rooting for her favorite drivers such as Punky Caron, Dwight Jarvis, and her son-in-law, Fran Colson, Jr. She enjoyed NASCAR and loved the #24 Jeff Gordon. She also enjoyed country music and dancing. With her friends, she attended many concerts for the band Alabama and even got invited to tour their bus following the concerts. Family trips to Old Orchard Beach, Lake George, and Cape Cod with her family by her side gave her such joy. She enjoyed following her twin boys while they were in skiing competitions throughout New England. She followed her children in all their parades while they were in the VFW Drum & Bugle Corp. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended many of their events over the years. She enjoyed knitting sweaters for various family members and of late she was making knitted dishcloths and giving them to friends and relatives with much love. She loved her occasional Bingo games; loved her Sunday rides on the back roads of VT and NH looking for deer. She loved to tell stories and could keep you talking if the interest was there.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother, Calvin Downs; sisters, Josephine Brown, Marguerite Moses, Nona Benjamin and Gail Downs; her daughter, Doreen (Colson) Wyatt and grandson, Francis Colson III; as well as two son-in laws, Francis LaFlam and Michael Burney.

She is survived by her children; Cindy LaFlam of Claremont; Douglas Wyatt and Michelle of Grafton, NH; Donald Wyatt of Wilder, VT and Wanda and Mark Bayer of Williston, VT. Several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend of many years, Dottie Leavitt of Hartford. Other special friends included Dr. Kenneth Rudd and Family, Muriel Maville, Kristy Davis, Jenna Goguen, Vicky Strouse, Suzanne Whitcomb and many others that she considered her friends. She will be missed by many.

Her family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care and compassion she received from the doctors and entire staff at Alice Peck Day during her final days. We could not have asked for more – you gave her exactly what she wanted, and it will always be remembered. Thanks also to her Geriatrics/PCP, Dr. Catherine Dubeau at Dartmouth Health for your many years of care to our mother.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 at the West Lebanon cemetery with Pastor SallyAnn Silfies officiating. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or a charity of your choice.
