Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Constance V. "Connie" Hazelton, 83, passed away Saturday morning, February 16, at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH. Connie was born July 10, 1929 in Wolfeboro, NH the daughter of Ernest and Marguerite Thompson Kenney. She attended schools in Wolfeboro where she graduated from Wolfeboro High School in 1947. Following graduation she began working at the local pharmacy and later was employed as a waitress at the Wooly Restaurant in the White Mountain Region. It was there that she met the love of her life, Wesley R. Hazelton of White River Jct., VT. They were married on January 30, 1949 and spent sixty-four devoted and loving years together. They made their first residence in a small apartment in West Lebanon, NH, later moving to Plainfield, NH. They purchased their home on Jericho Road in White River Jct., VT in 1960 where they raised their five sons and a daughter. Their first born son, Ernest Albert or "Buzzie" as he was affectionately called, passed away when he was only two months old. In 1979, they suffered another tragic loss, when their son, Jeffrey was killed in a automobile accident in Florida. Connie worked as a waitress at the Hotel Coolidge and later as a nurse's aide at the former Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH. Most recently she was employment as a cook at the cafeteria of Hartford High School, preparing meals for Hartford students for over twenty years until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Jericho Community Women's Club. She and her husband were active members of the Greater Hartford Church of Christ in Hartford Village. She had spent countless hours baking pies for dinners and church suppers. Connie enjoyed people and could visit with anyone even a complete stranger. She was a very talented artist both painting and drawing, a talent which she passed on to her children. Connie and Wes loved spending time with each other and their family at their camp on Lake Willoughby. She was predeceased by her two sons and two brothers, Richard Kenney and William Kenney.
Survivors include her husband Wesley R. Hazelton Sr. of White River Jct., VT, one daughter, Pamela Dupuis of South Royalton, VT, three sons, Wesley R. Hazelton, Jr. of Gray, Maine, Thomas Hazelton of White River Jct., VT, Andrew Hazelton of Grove City, PA, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three sisters, Charlotte Bartholomae of Manchester, VT, Dorothy Glidden of Wolfeboro, NH, Clara Sawyer of Wolfeboro, NH, one brother, Franklin Kenney of CT, several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Thursday evening, Feb. 21, from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon. Feb. 22 at 2PM at the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ in Hartford Village. Burial will follow in the West Lebanon, Cemetery in West Lebanon, NH.
