IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Colleen A.
Lyman
February 10, 1954 – March 22, 2024
Hartland, VT – Colleen A. Lyman, 70, our beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother died on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH. She was born on February 10, 1954, in Vermont, the second child of William Benjamin and Betty Marlene (Merchant) Nye. Colleen grew up in Vermont and was a dedicated mother, often working long hours to provide not just the basics, but also many recreational opportunities for she and Tammy to enjoy. Through the years, she enjoyed keeping expansive gardens, providing many fresh fruits and vegetables and beautiful flowers all season long. Her home wasn't complete without a Cocker Spaniel about, and until recent years there was hardly a time when home wasn't shared with a one.
On October 3, 1992, she married Stephen Lyman and the two were one another's champions. They enjoyed annual camping trips together, tending and picking the blueberries in their yard, and spending time in and by the pool in the summers.
Colleen was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren and loved to hear about their lives, triumphs, and help when she was needed. Many wonderful days were spent swimming, finding treasures at yard sales, and berry and apple picking.
She is survived by her husband Stephen D. Lyman of Hartland; daughter Tammy Wilson of Grantham, NH; four brothers William "Bill" Nye of Plymouth, NH, Francis Heath of Windsor, VT, Terry Heath and wife Anna of TN, and Dennis Heath of TN; two grandchildren Travis and Taylor Wilson; one great grandson Elliott; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father William B. Nye, mother Betty M. Heath, and one brother Robert "Bob" Nye.
Colleen's family would like to thank the staff at Norris Cotton Cancer Care and the Jack Byrne Center for their wonderful, caring attention. Memorial donations are appreciated to either one of these organizations in Colleen's memory.
Private services will be held at Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT where she will be buried near her mother. Knight Funeral Home of Windsor, VT has been entrusted with arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
