West Lebanon, NH – Colin Spencer Wills died in Panton, VT while on a camping and fishing trip with his daughter on Friday, August 14, 2026. He was 54 years old and had long suffered from cardiac issues. Colin was born in Townshend, VT to Thomas Paul and Ava Marie (Smith) Wills on December 1, 1971. He and his siblings were orphaned at a young age when their parents also died from cardiovascular issues, and he lived with family in New Jersey from the age of 9. His older sister Faith was able to provide a home for him during his teenage years and the two shared a close and loving bond. In New Jersey he learned to play the piano and began to develop a lifelong love of music.
As an adult, he adored being a dad and grandpa, seizing every opportunity to be present in their lives. Fishing was his next biggest love in life, so whenever possible, he brought his family along with him to the streams, ponds, and rivers to reel in the next catch.
In recent years, he created books, or as he called them: ‘whimsical tales,’ for his grandchildren. Each book was unique and created just for them, often with a fable at the heart of the story.
Colin is survived by three daughters Tiffany Wills of West Lebanon, Megan Wills of Bennington, VT, and Natasha Theron and husband Chad of Swanton, VT; a longtime companion Susie Williams of West Lebanon; five siblings Faith Wills of Norwich, VT, Jesse Smith of Norwich, Loretta King of New Jersey, Barbara Santiago of New Jersey, and Diane Lahman and husband Tom of Florida; seven grandchildren Braelin, Amora, Kade-Colin, Blake, River, Avalee, and AJ; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11 am in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sharon, VT. Knight Funeral Home of White River Junction, VT has been entrusted with arrangements and messages of condolence may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
