Clayton W. "Bill" Adams, 70, passed away January 18 at his home in Quechee, VT.
Bill was born February 21, 1941 in Worcester, MA, to Clayton and Genevieve Adams. After high school, he attended Norwich University and joined the Corps of Cadets. He graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Government.
As a Lieutenant in the United States Army, Bill served his country in Vietnam as a pilot. Upon returning from Vietnam, he married Susan (Taylor) Adams on June 23, 1968 in Worcester. A son, Christopher, was born in 1969 and a daughter, Julie, joined the family in 1972. Bill & Susan raised their family in Wilton, CT.
Bill channeled his passion for flight into a career, becoming a Captain for Eastern Airlines and later for Atlas Air. After retiring from flying in 2001, he resettled to Vermont where he pursued a love of cooking, improved his golf game, and enjoyed skiing with his Grandchildren, Cassidy and Beckett.
Bill is survived by Chris, Daughter-in-Law Katherine, and his Granddaughter Cassidy of Lebanon, NH; and Julie, Son-In-Law Todd Stenz, and Grandson Beckett of Trumbull, CT. Susan predeceased Bill in July 1995.
A service will be held Monday, January 23 at 1 PM at Woodstock Unitarian Universalist Church in Woodstock, VT. A private burial is planned for Hope Cemetery in Worcester. The Knight Funeral in White River Junction, VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Chris & Julie ask that a donation be made in their Dad's name to either one of his favorite organizations; The American Lung Association or the Norwich University Blue Line Club.
