Windsor, VT – Clarence A. Rathbun, 77, died Saturday December 11th at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.
He was born February 23, 1933 in Burlington, VT the only son of Asa P. and Gertrude (Eno) Rathbun. He attended school in New Haven, VT where he worked on his family's dairy farm until serving in the US Army from 1954 until 1957. He married Jeanie Downing October 20, 1956 in Hartland where they lived for many years before moving to Windsor. Clarence was a truck driver all of his working life for several area companies including the P&C warehouse in White River Jct., for twenty five years. After his retirement he worked as a driving instructor for Northeast Qualifiers in Springfield. Mrs. Rathbun died May 6, 1997.
He enjoyed polka music, traveling, playing cribbage and camping. He was a member of American Legion Post 25 in Windsor and volunteered with Volunteers in Action at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor.
He is survived by two daughters Tammy Neily of Enfield, NH and Cheryl Sweet of Lebanon, NH; a son Tommy Rathbun of Charlestown, NH; three grandsons, five granddaughters, several great grandchildren and a dear friend Jim Taylor of Alberta, Canada.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor Wednesday from 6-8PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 16th at 1PM with the Rev. Dale Nicholas officiating.
