Clara A. Grover
White River Jct., Vermont – Clara A. Grover, 85, died early Wednesday morning, January 2, at the Cedar Hill Continuing Care in Windsor, Vermont. She was born February 11, 1927 the only child of Franklyn E. and Mary Ann King Thorne.
She grew up travelling with her family while her dad was serving in the US Navy including stays in San Diego, CA and Norfolk, VA. Clara married Carlos L. Grover, June 4, 1944 in Topsham, ME. They lived in Wells River, VT for a time before moving to White River Jct. where she made her home until 2008 when due to her failing health she moved to the Cedar Hill facility. Mr. Grover died November 23, 1990.
Clara worked as a seamstress for Dewey's Woolen Mill in Quechee and others from her home. She was a member of the Wenona Chapter Order of the Eastern Star having served as a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Clara also loved bird watching and German Shepherd dogs.
Clara is survived by her children Alan K. Grover of Plainfield, NH, Lorin C. Grover of Carson City, NV, Mollie Gardner of Shreveport, LA, Laura Earp of St. Johnsbury, VT and Donna Grover of San Diego, CA as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchilden.
Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., on Monday January 7th from 6-8PM. Services by the Eastern Star will be held at 7:30PM.
