Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Clara C. Burnham, 92, died early Friday morning, September 15, 2017 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. She was born April 29, 1925 in Hanover, NH the daughter of Charles and Mary. (Elliott) Campbell.

Clara grew up in Pomfret and White River Jct., attending schools in both towns. She married Roger Burnham on August 28, 1946. They made their home in White River Jct., VT where they have lived ever since. Clara raised her nine children along with over fifty foster children through the State of Vermont.

She was an American Toy Party representative for many years. She enjoyed crafting, camping at Jelly Stone Campground in Ashland, NH. She also enjoyed making homemade applesauce, visiting with friends in the Strafford Senior Center. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, she enjoyed decorating her teddy bear tree stuffed animal tree each year, growing the collection to over 100 bears. She loved her dogs but most of all spending time with her family.

Clara was predeceased by her husband Roger; two sons, Stanley and Robert; sisters Doris French and Pearl Stone, a brother George Campbell, and a grandson David Grady.

She is survived by five sons, Stephen of White River Jct., VT, Ronald of Plainfield, NH, Jim of West Lebanon, NH, Tom of Bradford, VT and Rodney of Harrington, DE, two daughters, Patty Grady of Killeen, TX and Linda Mallet also of Killeen, TX, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; four brothers David Campbell, Willard Campbell, Hazen Campbell, and Walt Campbell; and two sisters Mary Frasier and Hazel Wheeler.

At her request a graveside service will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11am in the Hartford Cemetery. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your local food shelf, as Clara's life motto was "There was always room for another one at the table." So by way of providing a meal for someone in need we can honor and remember her.
