White River Jct., VT- Christopher Todd "Critter" Scott-Smith, 21, died unexpectedly at his home in White River Jct., VT on Thursday, October 2, 2014. He was born June 26, 1993 in Lebanon, NH, the son of Jason P. and Christina (Pomerville) Scott-Smith.
Critter grew up and attended school in the Town of Hartford, VT, where he enjoyed playing several sports through elementary and middle school. He carried his love of playing baseball and football throughout his junior year at Hartford High, where he graduated in 2011. After graduating, he worked for Martin and Tim Lyman haying and doing various odd jobs and working as a carpeting and flooring subcontractor for Kevin Levesque and Carpet King and Tile.
In 2001, he fell in love at first sight when he received his first dirtbike. He went on to race
Motocross throughout the region for many years, winning several races and championships. Knee surgery in early 2011 ended his racing career, but his love for the sport remained.
Throughout his life, Critter enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowboarding, sports and anything to do with the outdoors. He grew into a young man who loved working hard and meticulously, truly believing any job worth doing is worth doing right. But most of all, Critter loved being with his family and friends and had a passion for making them all laugh and bringing them happiness even in their darkest days. He never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand or share his infectious smile - even to a complete stranger.
He is survived by his parents and his sister, Jeanna Scott-Smith ofWhite River Jct., VT, his maternal grandparents, Eugene F. and Patricia Pomerville of Lowville, NY, his paternal grandparents, Susan and John Nicholls of Scottsdale, AZ, his girlfriend, Dakota M. Wood of Sharon, VT as well as several uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 8, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Knight
Funeral Home in White River Jct., Vt. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 9, at 2:30 PM in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Jct., VT.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Town of Hartford Parks and Recreation Department in Hartford, VT.
