Chester H. Welch, Sr, 79, of Wilder, VT died on Saturday, November 20, 2021 unexpectedly at his home of natural causes.
Chester was born January 7, 1942 in Wilder, VT, a son of Robert and Romona (Grant) Welch. He attended school in Bridgewater, VT and later Hartford, VT. Chester enlisted in the Army and spent most of his three years in Hawaii. After being discharged, he returned to the Upper Valley and worked for Maynards Auto Parts, the VA Hospital, and for a while, worked as a truck driver.
Chester is survived by his children Tammy Burke (Ricky) of Vershire, VT; Chester Welch Jr (Cindy) of Enfield, NH; and Gary Welch (Tonia) of Cavendish, VT; step-daughter Wendy Aldrich (Ron) of Ascutney, VT; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; six siblings, William Welch of Norwich, VT, Ronald Welch of Wilder, VT, Gertrude Hughes of Wilder, VT, Paul Welch of Chelsea, VT, Margaret Spencer of Hartland, VT, and Edwin Welch of Hartford, VT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chester is predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Corrine Clogston and Jeanette Skinner; and two brothers, Robert Grant and Collamer "Butch" Welch.
A service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, VT.
